As I said in an earlier post, my basil plants had exploded. In order to encourage more growth, I cut off most of the leaves and made pesto, which I served with pasta and cut up grape tomatoes:
The pesto was gorgeously green and vibrant, with an amazingly fresh flavor. There is nothing like eating food you grew yourself.
Let me know how well they come back! I've don't that once and they all but died on me. I always try to leave a good number of leaves on them.
ReplyDeleteI have pesto on my radar for next week for sure. I keep seeing it everywhere and I've never tried it. So cool that you had your own basil to use.
ReplyDeletelonghair - So far so good. The plants looked like they'd grown overnight when I went out to water them today. I'll keep you posted.
ReplyDeleteMelissa - Never had pesto!? How is this possible? I have to tell you, I love having a mini garden. Next year I'm gonna do even more.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a patio? You could total container garden. That's what I'm doing. As long as you have enough sun you'll be fine!
