New Year's Brunch

Happy 2008! I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday.

This morning our neighbors R and N had a few friends over for New Year's brunch. R put out quite the spread and all of us were feeling pleasantly stuffed:

She had every kind of bagel imaginable:

... thinly sliced lox:

... onion, cucumber and tomato:

... cream cheese and Monterey Jack cheese:

... a variety of spreads:

... including tuna salad:

... egg salad:

... and white fish salad:

N's stepsister, W, made sweet kugel:

... and R made Paula Deen's French toast casserole:

I was searching for a good recipe and came across Ina's corn muffins stuffed with raspberry preserves:

Our other neighbor friends, K and D, gave up a cappuccino cake for Christmas, so we brought that along for everyone to share:

My plate with a bagel with cream cheese and tomato, French toast casserole, sweet kugel, tuna and egg salads:

K made her decadent coffee cake for dessert:

... and we also noshed on cashews, dried fruit and mini peanut butter cups:

Thanks, R and N, for inviting us to such a wonderful brunch. We can't wait for next year!

  2. Look at all those bagels! Rofl! I've only seen a few packets in our stores, it's not very common here to have bagels. In fact, I don't think I have ever had one! Maybe I should try one just for kicks, see how it feels to be American! ;)

    Happy New Year!

  4. reminds me of sunday morning deli food when I was young. that's what you get on the weekends with new york jewish parents. old habits die hard. ;)

I keep staring at the egg salad. I loooove that stuff, though I am not in the majority there. it's something I actually crave from time to time. drool.
