Fat Rabbit Sightings

Two different rabbit sightings on two different days:

As soon as they sense that I'm there they get all hunched down:

Spring...and the return of Fat Rabbit

The days are getting warmer (and longer, thank goodness!) but I knew spring had really arrived with the return of Fat Rabbit:

I opened the back curtains when I got home from work one day and who did I see in our backyard but a fat bunny rabbit. He was chomping on some grass and looking fat and happy. Later, closer to dusk, we saw another rabbit clearly leaner then this guy, hopping around near our grill. It makes me happy to see them, just as long as they stay away from my vegetable garden later in the spring/summer.

Return of the Rabbits

Last night, when I got home, I opened the back curtain and saw this little guy hanging out in the backyard:

A few minutes later I turned around and found him chilling out:

Too bad I needed some herbs, which meant going out into the yard. Apparently that upset his delicate sensibilities and he hopped off.

Fat Rabbit Returns

I got home this evening, opened the back curtain and there he was - Fat Rabbit:

Am I crazy or is this a seriously fat rabbit? He just seems very large to me. He was in the middle of the yard so I was able to get a better shot of him. When SP got home he was none too pleased. I had to stop him from opening the back door and yelling, "Stop eating my yard!" He does have a point, of course, especially since we're hoping to grow vegetables and herbs this summer. He wants to put chicken wire under the fence. If he does it properly, it will mean no more Fat Rabbit sightings, which does make me sad but then again, I'd rather have my vegetables and herbs then be Club Med to a bunch of rabbits. Even if they're really cute.

The First Sign of Spring

Fat Rabbit has returned:

When I got home yesterday and opened the curtains to the backyard I saw him sitting there. I've seen a few rabbits hopping around in the morning when I'm leaving for work, but this is the first time I've seen one nesting in the backyard. Ahh...the signs of spring.
