Gifts from Louisiana

My friend Amy lives in Louisiana. We recently decided it would be a lot of fun to do a gift swap of a sampling of local, regional foods. I got my package on Friday:

It included beignet mix, king cake mix, jambalya mix, apple and chocolate pies:

Seasoning mixes:

... and pepper jelly:

I can't wait to use some of these goodies. Thank you so much, Amy! You're an amazing friend. I promise my package is on its way.

  1. Oh awesome! I am so unfamiliar with cooking of that region. I just made my first jambalaya last night though and it was great. Have fun with your goodies.

  3. Melissa - I haven't done much cooking from the South either. I can't wait to see you jambalaya recipe!

Sue - I haven't sent the pacakge to Amy yet, but once I do I'll post once she gets it.

  4. You need some Chicory coffee to go with that :)

  5. My stepfather uses Andy's fish breading, and I can never find it this far north... The southern stuff rocks!

P.S. I think I've seen that beignet mix at World Market, though... I'll have to check!
